1. The "Core 8" Tools

This list assumes you have the basics from the Fixed Blade list:

  • Safety Gear
  • Layout & Marking Tools
  • Profiling (Bandsaw/Hacksaw)
  • Grinding (Grinder/Files)
  • Heat Treat (Oven/Service)
  • Finishing (Sandpaper)

2. Precision Drilling

This is non-negotiable for folders.

  • Drill Press
  • Precision Drill Bits (Numbered)
  • Center/Spotting Drills

3. Pivot & Screw Tools

For that perfect, no-slop action.

  • Reamers (for the pivot hole)
  • Counterbores (for screw heads)
  • Countersinks (for flat-head screws)

4. Tapping & Threading

  • Taps (e.g., 2-56, 4-40)
  • Tap Handle
  • Tapping Fluid

5. Lock & Detent Tools

For the "click" and the lockup.

  • Jeweler's Saw or Dremel
  • Arbor Press (or Drill Press)
  • Small bits for detent (e.g., 1/16")
  • Detent Balls

6. Final Assembly

Putting it all together.

  • High-Quality Torx Drivers
  • Pivot Lube (KPL, etc.)
  • Threadlocker (Blue Loctite)
